The Euclid Board of Education met on October 12th, 2022, in the Fordyce Administration Building Board Room at 7:00 pm.
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Board President Kathy DeAngelis, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Four Board Members were present, Ms. Selina Wright was not in attendance.
The Board reviewed and approved the agenda for the evening.
The Board Adopted the Minutes from the September 14, 28, 29 and 30th Board Meetings
There were no Visitor Comments Relative to the Agenda.
Euclid High School Recognitions and Presentations
Five outstanding Euclid High School Students were recognized at the meeting for their contributions to the school, especially in the form of leadership. All of the Students honored are members of the First Ring Schools Collaborative Leadership Academy and have shown exemplary positive leadership skills as members of the Student Advisory Board.

Student Dariya R. was also recognized for her leadership skills and dedicated involvement in school activities and programs.
Staff Member Amber Quigley was recognized as Staff Member of the Month for the positive impact she’s had on school climate and culture.
Teacher Jason Cleaver was recognized as Faculty Member of the Month for his advocacy for students to be involved in the democratic process. He has registered over 75% of eligible students for the November 9th election.
Mr. Charles Battle was recognized as Family Member of the Month. The father of two EHS Students, Mr. Battle has been a parent leader and positive presence on campus, assisting and communicating with administrators and families at Open House and serving on the EHS Culture Team.
The High School’s presentation started off with the six students who were recognized speaking about their perspective of Euclid High School and the change in culture they feel is happening at the school.
Principal Corey Russell continued the presentation by discussing the Focus 3 program the High School has adopted, including the “R Factor” and the E+R=O equation that leads to a “One Direction Plan.”
The three goals of the One Direction plan are:
Establish a Safe and Collaborative Environment
Ensure Effective Instruction in Every Classroom
Cultivate Pride in EHS
Mr. Russell also spoke about the emphasis on leadership at Euclid High School. Through the process of “leading simply,” students are involved as much as possible with the goal of inspiring student leadership.
Reports and Recommendations of the Treasurer
Financial Data
Mr. Vasek presented the bills and financial statements for the month of September along with Then & Now transaction listings. The Board Approved the Financial Data.
The Board approved the amended appropriations including transfers and advances.
The Board approved the Tuition Rates for the Early Learning Village Preschool program.
Consider Appointment Delegate & Alternate - OSBA Capital Conference
Board Member Gabrielle Kelly volunteered to be the Board’s delegate at the Ohio School Board Association Capital Conference, with Board Member Pam Turos as the alternate delegate.
Consider and Accept Donation - Panther Proud Athletic Boosters
The Board accepted a donation of $5,828.27 from the Panther Proud Athletic Boosters.
Reports and Recommendations of the Superintendent
Personnel
The Board approved changes to both Certified and Classified personnel in the form of resignations, appointments, terminations, classification changes, extra-duty, athletic duty, salary schedules and educational program additions/reductions.

The Board approved a service agreement with A+ Learning and Development

Superintendent’s Informal
Superintendent Papouras talked about this past weekend’s Homecoming events, including the Homecoming Football Game, Ring of Honor Inductions, the James “Grinny” Grinstead Statistician Table Dedication, Secondary Campus Ribbon Cutting and finally the Homecoming Dance.
Mr. Papouras was invited to speak at the Chamber of Commerce Community Leaders Breakfast, where he and Mayor Holzheimer-Gail both presented, networked and exchanged ideas with Community Leaders and Chamber Members.
Mr. Papouras reminded everyone about the upcoming Trick-or-treat Night hosted by the Euclid High School Criminal Justice Students. The event will be on October 26th from 6:00pm-7:30pm and the cost to participate is $3, with all proceeds going to Shoes and Clothes for Kids.
Lastly, Mr. Papouras reminded everyone that there is no school on Friday, October 13th due to NEOEA day. Students will also be off next Wednesday, October 19th, for a District in-service Day.
Board Member’s Informal
Board Member Turos wanted to recognize Director of Business Operations Patrick Higley and Facilities Coordinator Vance Marbury for putting student safety first–walking towards danger, rather than away from it.
Board Vice-President Sudar thanked staff for overseeing the construction of the Secondary Campus and organizing the Ribbon Cutting.
Board President gave a brief Student Liaison Report, recognizing student achievement and events around the district. She also spoke about her experience at the Ribbon Cutting and acknowledged the former Superintendents and current students that joined the celebration.
