The Euclid Board of Education met on September 28th and 29th, 2022, in the Fordyce Administration Building Board Room at 7:00 pm.
The meeting on September 28th was called to order at 7:00 pm by Board President Kathy DeAngelis, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
All five Board Members were present.
The Board reviewed and approved the agenda for the evening, with changing the order of the presentations as the only change to the agenda.
There were no Visitor Comments Relative to the Agenda.
Presentations
The first presentation of the evening was about Graduation Requirements, presented by Ms. Kayla Hunt the CTE Coordinator and Counselor at Euclid High School. The Ohio Graduation Requirements have changed frequently in the past number of years, but the counseling department at Euclid High School feels confident that these new requirements will remain for the foreseeable future. Students must meet three key components to graduate, Course Requirements, Demonstration of Competency and Demonstration of Readiness.
The second presentation regarded the Euclid Schools’ commitment to an 18-Hour Campus and Community Facility Use. Executive Director of Business Operations, Patrick Higley gave the presentation. Mr. Higley discussed district goal of providing opportunities to students, promoting health and wellness for residents, family engagement, creating a sense of community, developing relationships and creating a source of revenue for the district. During the presentation, he illustrated the breakdown of how Euclid Schools facilities have been used over the past 2 years.

The final presentation was about the General Fund Appropriations for the 2022-2023 Fiscal Year, given by Treasurer Steve Vasek. During the presentation, Mr. Vasek explained the General Fund budget for the 2022-2023 fiscal year and how the district estimates revenue and expenses for the year. He also illustrated the differences between the 2021-2022 fiscal year and the current fiscal term.

Consider Personnel
The Board elected to adopt a new Substitute Salary Schedule for 2022-2023. “We need to do this to stay competitive in the substitute teacher market,” said Superintendent Christopher Papouras.
Consider 2022-23 Appropriations
The Board adopted the 2022-2023 Appropriations that had been presented earlier in the meeting.

Executive Session
The Board entered into an Executive Session for the Consideration of the Employment of a Public Employee or Official.
The Meeting adjourned following the Executive Session.

The Board was supposed to hold a Grievance Hearing at the meeting, but the grievance was advanced to arbitration.
The Board altered the Agenda to remove the grievance hearing from the Agenda.
