- The Euclid Board of Education met on March 8, 2023, in the Fordyce Administration Building at 7:00 pm.
- The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Board President Kathy DeAngelis, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
- Four Board Members were present. Board member Donna Sudar was not in attendance.
- The Board reviewed and approved the agenda for the evening.
- The Board adopted the minutes for the February 8, 2023 and February 22, 2023 Board Meeting.
- The Board approved the Proclamation of Administrative Professionals Day. Administrative staff will be recognized throughout the national during National Administrative Professionals Week, April 24-28, 2023
Bluestone Elementary School Recognitions and Presentations
- 5 outstanding Bluestone Elementary Students were recognized at the meeting for Student of the Month. These students were acknowledged for their academic success, positive behavior and outstanding attendance. The following students were recognized

- Staff Member Savannah Karako-Green was recognized as Staff Member of the Month for her support to staff and students, as well as her vital role in implementing strategies for staff trainings.
- Instructional Coach Penny Humphrey was recognized as Faculty Member of the Month for being instrumental in providing learning opportunities for teachers. Penny is a team player, very supportive to the administration and an asset to Bluestone.
- Ms. Latonya Ensley was recognized as Family Members of the Month. Ms. Ensley is one of Bluestone’s most dedicated parents. She volunteers at every school event and offers to donate in all of Bluestone’s endeavors.
- Principal Cherree Mason and Assistant Principal Shateema Walker continued the presentation by presenting Bluestone Elementary. During the presentation, Mrs. Mason and Mrs. Walker areas of focus included:

Last year Bluestone created a Leadership Apprentice Team.This team cultivates experiences and develops leadership qualities throughout the school. This year’s team comprises 2nd grade teacher April Smart, 3rd grade teacher Olivia Jackson, 4th grade teacher Alyssa Pulice and Intervention Specialist Jessica Chmura.
There are over 15 committees at Bluestone where all staff members are active in at least two committees.

Bluestone Elementary offers many student leadership groups and committees for students. These groups and committees include the following:

Increase parent/community engagement
Glow Dance - a free event where over 200 people attended throughout the district and community. Euclid High School students volunteered to paint faces. Glow jewelry was provided during the dance. Turkeys were also given away to families during the dance.
Partnership with Imani United Church of Christ and House of Jubilee Ministries - provided backpacks to students at the beginning of the school year. Youth Minister of Imani United Church of Christ, Mrs. Fleshman visits Bluestone 5th graders monthly.
Other events include district events such as the district wide trick or treat event, family walk, and Case Western Reserve University visits.
Bluestone nominates monthly Parent of the Months and sends out a quarterly newsletter to keep families informed of Bluestone events.
Build a positive climate via PBIS Initiatives
Bluestone continues to have their Panther Pride Room. The Panther Pride Room is a game room where students can earn time to play by receiving a panther paw as a class or individual. The room consists of arcade games, air hockey tables, basketball hoops and more.
Bluestone Garden - The garden is maintained by retired teacher Sue Galenchek. Sue often teaches science lessons in the garden.
College & Career Readiness Committee - staff wears college shirts on Mondays and hosts a career week to introduce students to various career careers.
New Student Check In- to help new students get acclimated to the school, Bluestone staff provides a weekly check in to students.

Reports and Recommendations of the Treasurer
This portion of the meeting covered the financial data of the district. Euclid Schools Treasurer Steve Vasek led the Board Members through District Financial Statements.
The Board approved the Financial Data and approved items involving sufficient funds that were available and properly appropriated for the “Then and Now’ listing as submitted for the month of February and monthly financial statements for the month of February.
The Board approved adjustments to the original appropriations for the 2022-23 fiscal year.
The Board approved the renewal of the Medical Mutual of Ohio Agreement.
Reports and Recommendations of the Superintendent
Personnel
The Board approved changes to Administrative, Certified and Classified personnel in the form of resignations, terminations, retirements, permanent substitute appointments, non-teaching appointments, non-teaching assignments extra duty, athletic duty, athletic duty resignations
Contracts/Agreements
The Board approved an agreement with Kent State University for the College Credit Plus Program that provides multiple opportunities for secondary students in grades 7-12 who are Ohio residents to enroll in college-level courses.
The Board approved an agreement with Amazon and the Urban Agriculture program to develop a Pollinator Garden and Bee Habitat at Amazon’s CLE3 Fulfillment Center.
Miscellaneous
The Board approved the submission of a grant application for the Garden Club of Cleveland.
The Board approved the submission of the 21st Century Learning Grant
The Board approved Summer School Programs for 3rd grade, middle school and high school students.
The Board approved Responsive Classroom Summer workshops.
The Board accept donations from Lincoln Electric, AirGas, Higley Family and Thomas Milinovich

Superintendent’s Informal
Superintendent Papouras discussed the routine to exercise right-sizing the district.
The Superintendent announced the winner of the district’s month-long attendance challenge.
Superintendent Papouras reminded the audience that there will be no school on March 17th and the following week is Spring Break.
Mr. Papouras informed the audience that the district will host an Easter Egg Hunt on April 1st.
The Superintendent reminded families of the March into Kindergarten Carnival this Saturday.
Superintendent Papouras reminded the audience that state testing is approaching and emphasized the importance of arriving to school on time.
