About the Euclid City Schools

The Euclid Schools educate approximately 5,000 students throughout nine school buildings. Our programming begins with Euclid's youngest learners at the preschool level and extends to the twelfth grade. We have one Early Learning Village, four elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, one educational options center and one alternative school.

A Message from Superintendent Christopher Papouras

Dear Euclid Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year at Euclid Schools! We trust you’ve had a wonderful and refreshing summer break.  We’re eagerly preparing for students’ return to the classroom and can’t wait to embark on this educational journey together! Your dedicated teachers are excited to foster your child’s academic growth and craft memorable lessons that will resonate for a lifetime!

As many of you already know, our school buildings are fortunate to be run by amazing leaders. Our building principals and assistant principals are dedicated professionals who prioritize the well-being and development of our students. Alongside them, we’re proud to have extraordinary teachers and support staff that are committed and excited to develop students’ knowledge.

Collectively, we have developed a solid educational foundation for sustained student success through new curriculum, better materials, state-of-the-art schools and a common PK-12 instruction model using Explicit Instruction, which guarantees quality education in each classroom.

This foundation of our efforts is evident in the most recent State Report Card, where we met state standards in closing the achievement gap and exceeded state expectations in progress. The District Report Card shows significant progress in our English Language Arts and Mathematics, with significant evidence that students made more progress than expected on state tests. We are one of only 42 School Districts in the State of Ohio that was awarded the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Momentum Award for our academic progress.

To better meet the diverse needs of your families and children, we have introduced various educational options within the Euclid School District. We are an ed-choice district with programs that include College Career Plus, Career Technical Education, Euclid Virtual Learning Academy, Thrive, ChanceLight at Indian Hills, Panther Academy, STEM education, ELV Literacy and Sensory Focused School, Preschool programming, Autism education, and 18 different pathways to earn a high school diploma. If you are interested in an ed-choice program for  your child, please contact your child’s building principal.

While we have achieved significant milestones, we recognize that we still have more progress to be made. Our ultimate goal is to drive student achievement beyond state indicators, as this is crucial for preparing our students for the next grade level, high school graduation, and success in college and careers pathways.

We wholeheartedly request your partnership in your child’s educational journey to reach this goal. Your involvement and support play a vital role in their success.

  • We need your help making sure your students are doing their homework, following their teacher's instructions, and showing up for school on time. Regular attendance is of utmost importance, as just two days of school missed per month equate to missing ten percent of the school year, which qualifies them as chronically absent by the State of Ohio.

  • Open communication with your student’s teachers is essential, and we encourage you to connect with them through various channels such as email, phone calls, Infinite Campus, virtual meetings, or in-person visits during office hours. This year, we have also adopted ParentSquare to make communication with your students’ teachers and schools easier and more efficient. Please learn more about ParentSquare below. Additionally, you can always reach out to your child’s principal or teacher to get their office hour schedule, or you can schedule a face-to-face meeting with them.

  • Furthermore, setting aside time for daily study and homework is critical for academic growth. Students should generally spend a minimum of 10 minutes of study or homework per grade level each day. For instance, Third Grade students should spend 30 minutes studying or working on homework every evening – Seventh Grade students should allocate 70 minutes per day – and 10th Grade students should devote 100 minutes or 1 hour and 40 minutes.

In turn, you will always get transparency and feedback about your child’s well-being, performance and academic status from me and the Euclid Schools. We welcome you to ask questions and raise concerns about your child’s education.

Two important changes to be aware of for the 2024-2025 school year are our updated electronic device rules and our adoption of ParentSquare for family communication.

Together, in partnership with our teachers, staff and you, all of our children can succeed. It is our goal to work hand in hand to create a supportive and nurturing learning environment for every student.

Thank you for being an integral part of the Euclid Schools Family. We look forward to an outstanding academic 2024-2025 school year in partnership with all of our families.

Warm regards,

Chris Papouras, Superintendent
Euclid City School District
